Czech design, or Czech tournament, or Czech club sets, actually "Česká Klubovka", are found in Slovakia, Austria, Hungary and Romania as well. Some say Russia referring to the USSR period. Pictures of the 1963 Czech Championship show that pieces like the 1st set were still in use that time in official tournaments. They still are being made today, I believe.
The design is made in 1885, by the Czech sculptor, designer and preservationist Bohuslav Schnirch (1845-1901).
